Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen has risen to a career-best world no.9, following his final appearance at the All England Championship, where he lost to Denmark's Viktor Axelsen. The 20-year-old improved two places and has surpassed the reigning world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.

Lakshya Sen lost in the final to world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen, but he became the first Indian man to earn a silver medal in 21 years at the All-England Open Badminton Championships 2022. The 20-year-old Lakshya Sen was competing in his maiden BWF Super 1000 final. Axelsen defeated him 21-10, 21-15.

It comes as little or no surprise that doubles shuttlers in India don't really have the same stature as their singles counterparts, for reasons galore; but that doesn't take away from them, what they have been able to achieve for the country over the years and still continue to do so.

India’s title contender for the India Open from the women’s singles category was reduced to just one after Saina Nehwal revealed that she had to pull out of India Open owing to acute gastroenteritis. The 29-year-old Olympic bronze medalist had previously won the title four years back in 2015.
