On an eventful day, former junior world no.1 shuttler Sankar Muthusamy won his match against Indonesian legend Tommy Sugiarto at the Vietnam Open 2022, on Wednesday. Sankar ranked 121 in the world, eliminated the fourth seed, and 34-year-old Sugiarto from the competition in three games.

India’s Sourabh Verma recovered from a mid-game slump to win against China’s Sun Fei Xiang to clinch the men’s singles title at the USD 75,000 Vietnam Open BWF Tour Super 100 badminton tournament. Sourabh has beaten three Japanese shuttlers en route to clinching the prestigious title.

Indian badminton star Ajay Jayaram has reached the finals of the ongoing 2018 Vietnam Open after defeating Japan’s Yu Igarashi in straight games of 21-14, 21-19. However, fellow compatriot Mithun Manjunath has been knocked out after losing to Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in the semi-finals.

Indian ace Ajay Jayaram pulled off a stunning win against top seed Ygor Coelho in the second round of the Vietnam Open being played at Ho Chi Minh City by a score of 22-20, 21-14. Meanwhile, Rituparna Das continued her impressive form as she beat sixth seed Sung Shuo to secure the round four spot.
