Commonwealth Games silver-medallist L Devendro Singh’s hopes of making it to Rio Olympics ended on Friday after he lost his semi-final bout to Samuel Heredia 0-3 at Baku, Azerbaijan. Earlier, Manoj Kumar and Vikas Krishan had qualified for the Olympics from the AIBA World Qualifying Tournament.

Indian pugilists Manoj Kumar and Vikas Krishan qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics on Thursday after entering the semi-finals of the AIBA World Qualifying Tournament in Baku in the 64kg and 75kg category respectively. Both Manoj and Vikas are now assured of a medal in the tournament.

After Manoj Kumar and Sumit Sangwan reached the quarters of the AIBA World Qualifying Tournament, Devendro Singh booked his place in the semis of the 49kg category, and Vikas Krishan (75kg category) reached the quarters on Tuesday in Azerbaijan. Devendro is now assured of a medal in this tournament.
