In the Special General Meeting held in Mumbai today, the BCCI decided to file an affidavit regarding the difficulties in implementing the Lodha committee's recommendations. The Board has also decided to restructure the cricket calendar for 2016 to 2023, and appoint a new CEO and CFO for the BCCI.

“The Members authorized the Hony. Secretary BCCI to file an affidavit in the Hon’ble Supreme Court on behalf of the BCCI pointing out the anomalies and difficulties encountered in implementation of Hon’ble Justice Lodha Committee’s recommendations,” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said in a press release.

Earlier, the Supreme Court bench comprising of Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice Ibrahim Kalifullah described the report by Justice RM Lodha Committee on the overhaul of the BCCI as “straightforward, rational and understandable”, and advised the board to “fall in line” and accept the recommendations. The bench also asked the board to provide its reply to the report before the next hearing on March 3.

One of the recommendations by the committee was to provide more rest to the players, by reducing the number of matches India play in a season. It appears the BCCI has decided to implement that suggestion.

“The Members authorized the President and Hony. Secretary to discuss the governance and financial restructuring of the ICC subject to such restructuring being incorporated in the constitution of the ICC for permanency. Further the members also authorized the President and Hony. Secretary to rework the FTPs for the period 2016 to 2023 and ensure equitable distribution of the matches,” Anurag Thakur said.

The Board has also decided to award full member status to the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh and search for candidates for the posts of CEO and CFO to the organization.

“The Members approved the recommendation of the affiliation committee of BCCI to grant full member status to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh. They will be a part of the Central Zone for all the BCCI tournaments.

“The Working Committee authorized the President and Hony. Secretary to appoint an agency to search for candidates for the posts of CEO and CFO for the BCCI,” said the release.
