India beat Thailand by nine wickets in their second game of the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup in Bangkok. Opener Veda Krishnamurthy scored 35 and was ably supported by Sabbineni Meghana, who chipped in with an unbeaten 29.

Brief scores: Thailand 69/5 in 20 overs (Ratanaporn Padunglerd 20; Mansi Joshi 2-8) lost to India 70/1 in 11.1 overs (Veda Krishnamurthy 35, Sabbineni Meghana 29 not out; Sornnarin Tippoch 1-17) by 9 wickets.

After defeating Bangladesh in the opening round, the outing against the hosts was always going to be easier for India.

Thailand opted to bat first, but Mansi Joshi struck in her very first over to send back Sirintra Saengsakaorat. The Haryana rookie dismissed the other opener Nattakan Chantam in her next over.

Ratannaporn Padunglerd (20) and Nattaya Boochatham (17) combined to add 24 for the third wicket before Shikha Pandey broke the stand.  Padunglerd put on another 20 for the fourth wicket with skipper Sorninarin Tippoch before being run out by Pandey.

India chased down the target with ease with Krishnamurthy hammering 36 off 26 balls with four boundaries and the only six of the match. Wicketkeeper Sushma Verma joined Meghana to take the team past the finish line after Sornnarin Tippoch accounted for Krishnamurthy.
