BCCI to stick to its stand in SC final hearing on Lodha committee reforms

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has decided to hold out against implementing all of Lodha committee’s reforms at the Supreme Court’s final hearing on Monday (Oct 17), following Saturday’s ‘special meeting’ of its full members, in the hope of somehow extracting concessions.

The BCCI is opposed to major reforms such as one-state-one-vote, age cap of 70 years for office-bearers, cooling off period for office-bearers and one-man-one-post, and it appears that there was a consensus at the meeting to wait, and no state body was in a hurry to file affidavits that the Lodha reforms would be implemented in full.

“The objective of the meeting was to get a sense of the member associations. They are all on the same page as the BCCI,” an unnamed BCCI official told the Times of India newspaper.

Reportedly Vidarbha, Tripura and Hyderabad have decided to go by the Supreme Court order. However, the source said, “As for Vidarbha and Tripura, if one goes through their resolutions, they haven't accepted all the recommendations.

“The state associations, barring four, which includes RCA (Rajasthan), have unanimously said that they are fine with what the board decides. The BCCI top brass briefed them about the status of the case and the legal repercussions.

“We are sticking to what was decided in the last special general meeting in Mumbai two weeks ago."

A senior official of the suspended Rajasthan Cricket Association was not allowed into the meeting.
