Delhi Daredevils dented Rising Pune Supergiant’s hopes of reaching the playoffs by inflicting a seven-run defeat last night. However, MS Dhoni had a memorable outing as he became only the second wicketkeeper behind Dinesh Karthik to complete 100 dismissals in the tournament’s 10-year history.

Dhoni achieved the milestone when he poached Shreyas Iyer caught behind, off the second ball of the third over during Delhi’s innings. That dismissal meant that Dhoni now has 71 catches and 29 stumpings in 156 career matches, so far.

Though Dhoni could not help his side avoiding defeat, last night’s game will be equally remembered for Dhoni’s heroics behind the stumps. Not only did he take a one-handed blinder to dismiss Marlon Samuels off the bowling of Pat Cummins, he then topped that effort with a lightning quick piece of glove work to send dangerous Corey Anderson, back to the pavilion off the bowling of Washinton Sundar.

Finally, Dhoni though, failed with the bat last night. But he'll have a chance to make amends when Pune take on the Kings XI Punjab in their final league game tomorrow. And from a Pune fan's perspective, one will hope that the stumper can deliver both behind the wicket, as well as in front of it.
