India vs Australia | Travis Head wants to play aggressive cricket but with a smile

Travis Head is looking forward to playing aggressive cricket this Australian summer against the touring Indian team during the upcoming Test series. He is of the opinion that aggressive and attacking cricket can be played but the players can still have a smile on their faces while on the field.

Known for his attacking prowess with the bat Head has been all set for one of the most anticipated Test series of the year. The 24-year-old made his debut in the longest format for the Kangaroos earlier this year against Pakistan in October. And though he got out for a duck in his very first Test innings, he recovered well in the second scoring 72 runs to ensure a draw for the Aussies.

Having a strike rate of more than 60 in first-class cricket and considered as one of the aggressive batsmen for South Australia, Head has defined his style of playing with a smile on his face.

"You don't have to say anything to have mongrel, I don't think. Some players will, some players won't. I try and attack the ball every time ... to put pressure on the batters. That's what cricket is about, about enjoying it, playing with a smile, but it's also about when you're in the contest, not letting them get on top and win the contest," Head told The Sydney Morning Herald.

Head also spoke about the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins stating that they will also be showing the aggressive intent on the field. According to the southpaw, the pacers won't be getting into a verbal duel with the Indian batsmen but will show it by bowling in an attacking channel. he also assured that everyone would play passionately without getting into any kind of conflict with their Indian counterparts.

"Words are sometimes cheap, it's how they bowl, and their actions. If that mongrel means 'Starcy' bowling 150 [km/h] and 'Cummo' hitting a really hard length and same as 'Hoff' , it's bowling aggressive, being aggressive, the way we play, the way we bat," Head explained.

"You do that in your actions, the way you buzz around the field, the way you cut down runs, create pressure."
