IPL Auction | 232 players from different cricketing nations apply for IPL auctions

232 players from 13 different countries will hope to get picked by the eight different Indian Premier League franchises when the players go under the hammer. Over 1000 players including that from India have registered to get picked by any of the franchise to get to play the coveted League.

The auction for 12th season of the Indian Premier League will take place on December 18th and players from various Cricketing nations have applied to get into the squad of the eight teams. In total 1003 players have applied of which 232 are from foreign nations.

Since this Indian Domestic season has seen many new changes like teams from Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Puducherry playing the domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy, many players from these states have also registered for the Indian Premier League auctions.

Corey Anderson, Sam Curran, Lasith Malinga, Colin Ingram, Shaun Marsh, Angelo Mathews, Brendon McCullum, D'Arcy Short, and Chris Woakes have been put in the Rs. 2 crore bracket while pacers Dale Steyn and Jaydev Unadkat have been placed in the 1.5 crore one, according to Cricinfo. The Aussie duo of Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell have decided to pull out of the tournament all together this time around. 

As the league reaches its 12th edition, Hugh Edmeades, an independent fine art, classic car and charity auctioneer will be the new gavel master. With over 30 years of experience at Christie’s, Edmeades will engage the bidders from eight franchise replacing Richard Madley.

Franchises have time until 5:00 PM IST, December 10 to submit their shortlist of players that will make up the final IPL 2019 Player Auction list.
