MS Dhoni has always been the go-to person for Virat Kohli for reviews, but the latter’s solo attempt to pull off one like the former went awry. A Marlon Samuels delivery hit Rishabh Pant’s pads in front of the stumps, but Kohli forced Pant to go for the review, only to be left embarrassed.

Kohli has the knack of getting carried away with situations and apart from his own batting, he has shown that trait to be true everywhere. Be it bowling rotation or the field placement, Kohli seems to be in a different world when the conventional wisdom would have suggested him to be calmer.

In the midst of his daily routine of scoring centuries against Windies, today, Kohli made the same mistake and this time, while being at the non-striker’s end. After MS Dhoni’s dismissal, Pant had made his intentions clear and hit a couple of fours to get going. His presence could have hurt Windies badly, but Samuels’ deceptive part-time off-spin gave the team an important breakthrough as he bowled a slider that was kept a tad low. Pant failed to understand that and playing for the spin, he was trapped in front.

While the umpire didn’t have any hesitation to declare him out, Kohli, who was in the non-striker’s end, asked Pant to go for the review just the way MS Dhoni has done many a time in his career. Pant, who was batting for the first time in ODI cricket, opted for the review, but the replay was not at all shocking for the umpire Ian Gould. Both the pitching and impact were on the line and watching that both Kohli and Pant were left embarrassed.
