Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has assured fans that the team, under the new management of Mike Hesson and Simon Katich, will be looking to cover all bases and strengthen the squad in the auction. RCB retained just two overseas players and let go of a staggering eleven players.

Despite having had the strongest of teams - and subsequently, great auctions - Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), for some reason, have always fallen short and this has more often than not left their fans bitterly disappointed. And ahead of this year's auction, the team took a major gamble, retaining just two overseas players - AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali - whilst letting go 11 players in total, meaning they would need to nail the auction in order to stand a chance of competing in the tournament.

But one person who is extremely confident of RCB pulling the strings come December 19 at the auction in Kolkata in skipper Virat Kohli, who also revealed that he had fruitful discussions with the duo of Mike Hesson and Simon Katich, who have been appointed in the roles of Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach respectively. The RCB skipper also assured the fans that the franchise will cover all bases and will be looking to build a 'strong team' in the auction.

"The management group - Mike (Hesson) and Simon (Katich) - are doing a tremendous job. We've had few discussions to build a team around a strong core that we already have. We assure you that we are gonna cover all the bases that are required and build a very strong team to have a really good season in 2020," the RCB skipper said in a video posted by the team's official Facebook page.

Despite protests in the state of West Bengal, the auction is expected to go ahead as scheduled and will be held in Kolkata on December 19.
