AUS vs PAK | Australia likely to field unchanged XI in D/N Test, feels Justin Langer
Australia, who are 1-0 up in ongoing the two match Test series against Pakistan, are likely to play the D/N game in Adelaide with an unchanged playing XI according to their head coach Justin Langer. The hosts comfortably won the first Test in Brisbane by a margin of an innings and five runs.
Despite Babar Azam’s ton, the visitors couldn’t save themselves from a shameful defeat at the Gabba. Meanwhile, all of the home team gave good performances, except for a rare Steve Smith case. As the coach is happy with Australia performance and wants to go for the same team in the Adelaide Test.
Earlier, former captain, Ricky Ponting had also opined that there’s no need for a change moving into the second Test match.
Meanwhile, Michael Neser with consistent performances for Queensland and Australia A was rumoured to be in the race for selection. Paceman James Pattinson is also available for selection after having served a one-Test ban for abusing an opponent during a domestic game.
However, Langer doesn’t feel there’s any need for change in the playing side.
"The boys all played well (in Brisbane), they had a day off having finished in four days. We haven't had a look at the wicket yet, we'll make sure they get through training today. But my gut feel is we'll probably go with the same XI," he told reporters in Adelaide on Wednesday, according to cricket.co.au.
The second and final Test match is scheduled to begin from November 29 at the Adelaide Oval, with the home side leading 1-0 in the series.
