Delhi Capitals were good in all departments during the game against Punjab Kings on Monday which allowed them to win against their opponents and put them in the driver's seat for a berth in the playoffs. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi as he changed the complexion of the game.
Delhi Capitals' win against Punjab Kings could not have come at a better stage for the franchise as the win takes them to the fourth spot on the points table. Rishabh Pant's side managed to beat Punjab by 17 runs after a brilliant performance by Shardul Thakur who scalped 4 wickets during the game to derail the Punjab Kings' innings which at one stage looked set to win the game. The powerplay overs were where the Punjab Kings started dominating during the chase.
But, Shardul Thakur's twin strikes in the sixth over tilted the game in Delhi's favour as after that Punjab Kings could not get going. Jitesh Sharma was the only batter who looked threatening as the other batters could not do anything against the Delhi bowlers. After the game, Shardul Thakur talked about his performance and revealed that he likes bowling in crunch sitauations. “I always like to perform in crunch times, the last two games were important and I always feel happy when I rise on the right occasion. The 6th over was a big over where I got two wickets, they were cruising and, in both innings, fast bowlers were going for runs in the powerplay and as soon as the powerplay ended, the runs stopped. The spinners came in and did a good job,” Thakur was quoted as saying.
The fast bowlers has picked 13 wickets in 13 games so far in the tournament.Â
