IPL 2024 | Twitter erupts as Shamar Joseph's debut spirals into nightmare with 10-ball over
Every cricketer faces the possibility of a bad start and what's important is how you bounce back from them. Such was the case in the contest between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders where pacer Shamar Joseph’s debut turned into a nightmare after leaking 22 runs in his first over.
Joseph began decently by giving away just eight runs. But as he completed the over, the no-ball signal sounded indicating that he had overstepped on the last delivery. Coming back to bowl the extra ball, he unfortunately delivered a wide. This was followed by two more wides, one of which raced to the boundary. In the midst of this, he bowled another no-ball resulting in 14 runs being conceded already with Salt was ready to exploit the free hit. Eventually, Joseph delivered a legal ball which Salt dispatched for a six marking a disastrous debut for the West Indian. However, amidst the disappointment, KL Rahul was seen comforting Joseph and offering words of encouragement as he placed a reassuring hand on his back.
The Twitterverse quickly reacted to Shamar Joseph's challenging IPL debut sparking discussions across social media platforms.
Horror ending!

He bowled first 5 legal deliveries in 5 balls, but then took 5 more balls to deliver the 6th legal ball!
And the sixth legal ball went for Six! #KKRvsLSG pic.twitter.com/w56lF476km
Not the ideal start
Welcome to IPL Shamar Joseph

Calm down
Shamar Joseph needs to calm himself down a bit. Nerves.

All out attack bowler. A point that I have made before about him. He needs to learn the defensive skills needed for t20 cricket.
Need time
Shamar Joseph Needs more time in terms of the spell considering played more first class . Need defensive skills and probably variations in limited overs that would gradually come in 1-2 yrs by playing cpl consistently. Hope they leave him alone and not include him in WC Squad

Yup
The only effect of Shamar Joseph being no balled rather than wided then is it adds a ball faced to Phil Salt's innings. He must be fuming

— SINLESANN (@SINLESANN) April 14, 2024
No consistency in landing balls
Said same in AUS series too where his eco was higher due to lot of loose balls
But got good bounce & kick vs Salt& Narine in 3 balls, beat him in 1 ball too
So this is a positive#KKRvsLSG
