Test cricket seeks the utmost concentration for a prolonged period and tests an individual’s character. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh failed to do so after incurring a brain fade moment followed by Ravichandran Ashwin’s quirky tactics of asking Rishabh Pant to appeal hard for a false wicket.

Overnight batters Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne failed to extend their partnership in the morning session with the former getting out to a Jasprit Bumrah corker. With Steve Smith following suit, Travis Head consolidated a 65-run stand with Marnus to set up Australia’s healthy score. Right after, Mitchell Marsh gifted his wicket to the opposition before Ashwin showed his true colours.

The fourth ball of the 64th over saw Ashwin bowl a slider outside the stumps that Marsh tried to play off the front foot. However, the ball whiskered past the outside edge and the umpire gave out following Pant’s half-hearted appeal. Subsequently, Marsh left the field without reviewing. But to everyone’s surprise, the replays showed that there was flat line as the ball passed by the bat’s outside edge, prompting utter drama. But the focus quickly shifted to Ashwin reprimanding Pant for not appealing hard enough to force the umpire make an error. Ashwin, who has been making the headlines throughout his carrer for the quirky tactics was once again the talk in the town, prompting the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
