Parents often live through their children's dreams, and their success brings immense pride. South African pacer Corbin Bosch’s parents had a similar ride on the boxing day when their son kicked off his international career with a first-ball wicket against Pakistan at the Supersport Park, Centurion.

Playing to cement their spot in the World Test Championship Finals, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first under partly overcast Centurion conditions. The new ball of Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada ran out of luck despite bowling magnificent deliveries as openers Shan Masood and Saim Ayub propelled Pakistan to 36 runs in 14 overs. Breaking the stand took some effort from a special player who made his debut at his home.

Following an hour’s play, Corbin Bosch was summoned as the second-change bowler post-Drinks. The right-arm quick came over the wicket and dished a fuller one outside the stumps, angled away from Masood. The left-hander tried to lunge forward for a drive but got a thickish outside edge towards Marco Jansen at gully. The tall all-rounder held onto the ball trightly, gifting Corbin his first international wicket on the first ball itself. Playing at his home, Corbin’s parents were at the venue, and the cameraperson was excellent enough to switch the Twitterverse’s attention to their ecstatic reactions.

What a ball, what a debut, what a day!

He will remember this forever!

Ultimate!

Boom!

Yupe! He goes there!

Greatness!

He is making his parents feel so proud!

Bad luck for Shan Masood!

What a wicket on debut!
