Islamabad United triumphed over Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs in the eliminator match at Karachi’s National Stadium. The Gladiators faced a significant batting collapse while chasing 175 runs, getting bowled out for 135 runs, allowing Islamabad to advance to Qualifier 2 against Peshawar Zalmi.

Eyening the Qualifier 2 spot, Islamabad United clashed with Quetta Gladiators in the pivotal Eliminator match held in Karachi. Opting to bat first, Islamabad United's openers Alex Hales and Martin Guptill propelled their team to a flying start, reaching 46/0 within five overs. However, Quetta's Akeal Hosein managed to break the opening partnership by dismissing Hales in the sixth over, with the scoreboard reading 51/1. Subsequently, Guptill and Agha Salman formed a solid 51-run partnership, guiding their team to 99/1 after 11 overs. Yet, the departure of Salman in the 12th over weakened United's batting lineup, as quick wickets of Shadab Khan and Azam Khan followed. Nonetheless, Guptill donning the PSL cap for this match in place of Colin Munro, showcased remarkable batting prowess, notching up a well-crafted 50 runs off 40 deliveries, steering his team to 155/4 by the 17th over. Despite Guptill's valiant efforts, wickets continued to tumble from the other end, with Faheem Ashraf and Haider Ali departing without much impact. The trend persisted as Guptill and Imad Wasim fell in the slog overs, leaving United to finish at 174/9 after 20 overs.

The start of the innings proved to be a major setback for the Quetta Gladiators as they faced a blazing bowling performance from Islamabad, resulting in their worst beginning of the season. Struggling in the powerplay, the Gladiators lost half of their lineup, leaving them in a dire situation with the scoreboard reading 23/5. However, they managed to stage a recovery thanks to Akeal Hosein and Omair Yousuf, who built a resilient 51-run partnership, guiding the Gladiators to 67/5 after 10 overs. Yet, their joy was short-lived as Hosein fell victim to a run-out in the 11th over. Despite initially gaining momentum, the Gladiators faced a series of quick dismissals, finding themselves at 104/7 by the 15th over. Yousuf's valiant fifty off 36 deliveries briefly lifted their hopes, but his subsequent dismissal at 129/9 in 17.4 overs dashed their chances. Ultimately, the Gladiators could only manage 139 runs, leading to their defeat, while Islamabad United secured a spot in Qualifier 2, where they are set to clash with Peshawar Zalmi tonight.
