Delhi Capitals started off their innings well, with KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka scoring 55 runs together in the powerplay itself. Rahul looked well, as he anchored the innings with ease, as Nissanka took the charge against the bowlers before losing his wicket to Vaibhav Arora.
In the middle overs, Kolkata Knight Riders fought back with the help of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, who dismissed Karun Nair and Nitish Rana. Rahul continued to dominate the bowlers as he scored 62, while Tristan Stubbs gave a late cameo, which helped Delhi Capitals to post a competitive total of 178/6 in 20 overs.
