The Italian left Liverpool to join French club Nice in the recent transfer window after an unsuccessful spell with the Merseysiders, where he was out of contention under Brendan Rodgers and also under Jurgen Klopp. The 26-year old also thinks that its not too late for him to win the Ballon d'Or.

Former AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has taken shots at Liverpool by saying that moving to the Merseyside was one of the worst decisions in his career. The forward, who joined the Reds in the 2014-15 season, had fallen out of contention for the first team since, making just 14 appearances and scoring 4 goals across all competitions. After scoring a brace for his new club Nice in the French Ligue 1, Balotelli spoke about his former club.

"Joining Liverpool was the worst decision of my life. Apart from the fantastic fans and some player with whom I have an excellent relationship, I did not like the club.I had two coaches at Liverpool, Rodgers and Klopp for a bit, I did not like their methods and their personality. I never really felt well there," Balotelli told Canal+.

The ex-Inter striker was repeatedly in news while he was at Manchester City mostly due to his off-field antics and bust ups with his teammates. He also pointed out that he needs calmer surroundings in order to focus on his work.

"But I need to be more relaxed and have surroundings that work for me," he added.

Balotelli was also hopeful to win the coveted Ballon d'Or in the near future.

"It is not too late for me to win the Ballon d'Or. I think I could have already won it by now, but I might be able to win it within two to three years by working hard and staying serious.

Over the past two years, my work ethic has increased from 10 per cent to 80 per cent. I have really started working hard over the past two years." he added.
