Roma close in on Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi
Shkodran Mustafi has lost his place in Arsenal's defensive line rotation, mainly because of the David Luiz signing. The German international had a shaky season last year, costing the Gunners several points making him one of the scapegoats for the club to miss out on Champions League action.
The 27-year-old has yet to participate in a game for his team as he hasn't seen a single minute on the field yet. The London-based team has gone through a total rebuild in his defence, with Mustafi being left out of Unai Emery's plans for the upcoming season.
One of the teams that are seriously interested in acquiring the player's services is AS Roma, with the Italian club is offering a season-long loan with the option to obtain him permanently after a year for €25 million. After Kostas Manolas' departure, the Giallorossi have a glaring hole to fill at centre back, and are looking at all options. However, a move for the German is close to being official, according to the Daily Mail.
Shkodran Mustafi has played a total of 115 games for Arsenal, while netting 8 goals. Meanwhile, Roma is starting this weekend his Serie A campaign against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico, and will look to start in the right direction, as Paulo Fonseca's new team has been giving positive feedback during the pre-season.
