Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho did not deserve to be sacked, claims Marouane Fellaini

Marouane Fellaini has criticised the board on the sackings of former managers David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho as he felt that club were too quick to sack the managers. The Belgian midfielder moved to Shandong Luneng in January 2019 after spending 6 years at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have played 31 games since Fellaini’s departure but have only managed victories in 11. The dismal run has also cast a dark shadow on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign as fans are growing impatient with the Norwegian and demand a managerial change. But former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini has asserted that the club hierarchy have made some wrong decisions about sacking previous managers.
The midfielder knew that his time at Manchester United is coming to a close after he was restricted to the bench for the majority of the games and could only make one substitute appearance under Solskjaer. Despite moving to China, Fellaini tells Dail Mail that the Old Trafford club is always in his thoughts. He says he might know the reason where the club is going wrong.
“They brought in Moyes, they didn’t give him time. They brought in Van Gaal, they gave him two years and we started to do some things, he won the cup, but after that they sacked the manager because they want to win quickly. For me the club was too quick to sack Jose because a manager like that comes and he needs a lot of players to do his own philosophy,” said Fellaini to Daily Mail.
"He wanted to build his team but after two years and a half they decided to sack him because the results were not there. For the first season, he did amazingly he improved the team, won things. Okay, the second season, was a bit more difficult, but he tried and did his best to help the team.”
The towering Belgian feels that United still are in a mode of transition and any coach needs to be given proper time to execute his philosophy. He also slammed players for using social media right after the game. The 31-year-old has praised Solskjaer for his efforts of building a young team and hopes that the former Molde man is given enough time to make the transition and help the club become successful again.
“That’s the problem, they have to find a solution together. A manager like Van Gaal, tactically is very strong and a lot of experience and they sacked him. They brought in one of the best managers in the world in Jose Mourinho, he wanted to build a team and they sacked him. I don’t know what they will do with Ole. Now you have a new manager, they wanted young players and that’s what happens when you play with just young players - they will be up and down, up and down, that’s football.
"Of course in football, you can’t play with just young players, you need a mix. I think to win games, to win titles, to win big games you need experience. Of course you can win with young players but not every game,” concluded the Belgian.
