Inter Milan’s on loan Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has picked up an injury while on international duty for Chile. The former Arsenal forward faces a lengthy spell on sidelines after injuring his ankle in the second half in Chile’s friendly against Columbia that ended in a 0-0 draw.

Alexis Sanchez moved to Inter Milan on loan after a terrible spell at Manchester United and had started to regain confidence but now faces a spell out after picking up an ankle injury on international duty. Sanchez was hurt in the second half of Chile's 0-0 friendly draw with Colombia in Alicante and replaced in the 87th minute. The BBC reports that the Chilean football federation confirmed the injury stating that Sanchez has dislocated tendons in his left ankle.

The forward cut his time with Chile short and has returned to Milan for further examination and assessment on his left ankle. This is not his first ankle injury as Sanchez also suffered one in May earlier this year where he was out of action for 36 days for Manchester United. The former Barcelona man joined Serie A side Inter on a season-long loan deal after struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford and scored for Antonio Conte’s team on his first start.

The Chilean has also been an ever-present for his national side, winning two Copa Americas with them, and will miss their match against Guinea and more for Inter Milan. Reports further indicate that the Chilean will be out for atleast two months but nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet by either Chile or the Nerazzurri.
