Ian Wright Praises Frank Lampard’s Decision to Apply for Coventry City Job

Coventry City, currently ranked 17th in the Championship, has parted ways with long-time manager Mark Robins. Club owner Doug King confirmed that Frank Lampard, former manager of Chelsea, Everton, and Derby County, has applied for the vacant position. This follows Robins' sacking after a series of disappointing performances, including a 2-1 defeat to Derby County.

Lampard, with a mixed managerial record, sees this opportunity as a chance to rebuild his career in the Championship. However, the new manager will need to quickly stabilize Coventry’s form and push them up the table as they are in a troublesome position and are on the verge of elimination from the tournament.

Frank Lampard's managerial record shows mixed results. In 2023, as Chelsea's interim manager, he won 1 of 11 matches. At Everton (2022-23), he secured 12 wins from 44 games, and with Chelsea (2019-21), he had a better performance with 44 wins in 84 matches.

His time at Derby (2018-19) saw 26 wins in 57 games. Lampard's previous Championship experience may help, but with Coventry's current struggles, he must deliver results quickly after Mark Robins' sacking.
