In the latest interview with Vanity Fair, Kylian Mbappé opened up about the strong bond he now shares with his childhood idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. The French forward described their relationship as “wonderful” and revealed that Ronaldo played an important role in helping him settle after his move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.

Mbappé said the Portuguese star regularly spoke with him and offered valuable advice, especially because of his deep understanding of the club. The support comes at a challenging time for Mbappé, as Real Madrid are enduring a disappointing campaign. The club recently lost El Clásico to FC Barcelona on May 10 and were also knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the quarterfinals. This means Madrid are likely to finish a 2nd straight season without a major trophy.

Despite the team’s struggles, Mbappé has delivered individually, scoring 41 goals in 41 matches across all competitions this season. However, he is currently recovering from a left leg semitendinosus injury, which has ruled him out temporarily. His fitness for Real Madrid’s final 3 La Liga games remains uncertain, though he is expected to return in time to captain France national football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
