In what has been a campaign with ups and downs for the Indian men's hockey team, they finished 3rd in the tournament after defeating Germany 2-1 in the bronze medal play-off. Australian successfully defended their title as they edged past the Argentinian Hockey team, the Olympic Champions, 2-1.
