Puneri Paltan coach Ajay Thakur revealed that star defender Mohit missed the PKL 2025 Final due to injury concerns, prioritizing his long-term health over one match. Thakur said risking a 22-year-old’s career wasn’t worth it. Paltan lost the final by three points but vowed to return stronger next year.

At the Pro Kabaddi League 2025 Final, Puneri Paltan narrowly missed out on the championship, losing to Dabang Delhi by just three points. After the defeat, coach Ajay Thakur revealed the crucial reason behind the absence of star player Mohit Goyat in the title clash. Thakur confirmed that the 22-year-old raider had been dealing with an injury and was not fit to play, emphasizing that a player’s health and long-term career were more important than risking it for one match or season.

He explained that even a minor injury, if ignored, could have serious consequences and potentially end a player’s career. Mohit is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Despite the disappointment, Thakur expressed pride in his team’s effort during his debut season as head coach. He praised the squad for their fighting spirit and promised that the team would return stronger in the next season.

“I’m happy that this was my first season as a coach and I have this medal in my hand. We will work harder and change the color of this medal 101%,” Thakur said, reflecting both optimism and determination as Puneri Paltan aim to go one step further in the upcoming campaign.
