Indian shooter Sheeraz Sheikh has said that the shooting World Championship is one of the best stages for an athlete to put up his best performance. Sheikh also said that the Indian shotgun team is professional and hardworking and they are getting good support from the national federation and SAI.

India had a bad day in the Shotgun World Cup held in South Korea as veteran Mairaj Ahmad Khan had to narrowly miss out making the final on Saturday. India’s other hope, Sheeraz Sheikh also had a hot and cold day as he ended his day in the 33rd position with his position also looking bleak.

India’s Sheeraz Sheikh managed to hit 50 out of 50 in the men’s skeet competition as he led the list jointly having as many as 84 shotgun shooters vying to win the World Cup in South Korea’s Changwon. In women’s skeet, Ganemat Shekhon ended the qualification round in the 21st spot.

Shooter Jitu Rai became the latest sportsperson to be dropped from the list of sportspersons being supported by the much touted Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) on Tuesday. Three other shooters, along with Rai, have been dropped from the scheme due to below-par performances in the recent past.
