Records and Statistical Highlights as West Indies beat India in the Semi-final

Hosts India crashed out of the 2016 World Cup as West Indies recorded the highest successful chase in the knockout stage of a T20 World Cup. Lendl Simmons and India’s Virat Kohli racked up numerous records as they both put up masterclass performances for their respective teams.

Here are the list of records and the statistical highlights from the India vs West Indies semi-final.

1 – Virat Kohli becomes the first player to score 250 or more runs in two separate World Cup editions (2014 and 2016)

2 – The 192/2 scored by India is their second-highest total in T20 World Cups. The highest is 218/4 against England in 2007 at Durban.

3 – This was only the 3rd time India have had 50+ partnerships for the first and the second wickets in a T20I. The other two times were both in 2009.

3 – Number of times a team's top-3 have all scored 40 or more runs in a T20I. The previous two were New Zealand versus England at Hamilton in 2013 and India versus Australia at MCG earlier in 2016.

3 – This was the 3rd consecutive half-century for Lendl Simmons in T20s in India. He hit 65 and 68 runs in the 1st qualifying final and final of IPL 2015 before the half-century in this match.

5 – The toss-winning side had won all the previous five T20Is at Wankade stadium.

5 – Virat Kohli became the 5th Indian bowler to get a wicket in the first over of the innings in the 2016 World Cup.

10 – The last 12 times Virat Kohli has come out to bat in T20I in 2016, he has had 10 not-outs. These are his scores - 90*, 59*, 50, 7, 49, 56*, 41*, 23, 55*, 24*, 82*, 89*

12.76 – The percentage of dots in Virat Kohli’s innings. The lowest for an innings with more than 40 balls played is 11.36 when Virat Kohli scored 72* off 44 balls in 2014 World T20.

16 - Number of scores of 50 or more for Virat Kohli in T20Is. This is the most by any batsman in the world as he goes past Gayle and McCullum who each have 15 such scores.

19 – The number of doubles run by India today. This is the joint-third highest in a T20I innings. The highest is 21 doubles by Pakistan versus Sri Lanka in 2007 and India versus Australia at SCG in 2016.

27 – The number of times Samuel Badree has played for West Indies in T20I, and he has opened the bowling in every single match. In 18 of those, Badree has bowled all his four overs in the first ten overs.

39 – The number of 50s for Virat Kohli in T20 cricket without a century. That is joint-highest with Gautam Gambhir.

55 – The number of runs scored by India in the powerplays today is their best in this World Cup. This is also the first time India have not lost a wicket in the powerplay this tournament.

136.5 – Virat Kohli’s average at this World T20. This is the highest by any player at this tournament so far.

189.36 –Virat Kohli's strike rate of 189.36 is the highest by a batsman facing 40 or more balls and hitting just one or no sixes in a T20I innings.

193 – This is the highest successfully chased target in knockouts of World T20 history.
