Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that the IPL had helped bring players together and thereby taken 'ugly sledging' away from cricket. Explosive West Indies batsman, Chris Gayle seconded Dhoni's thoughts as he revealed how he enjoys friendly sledging.

"We play a gentleman's game. We want to win, but have to do it in the right way. IPL has taken the ugly sledging away from cricket. Friendly banter is good and that's what these Twenty20 Leagues has done. (IPL) really helped the cricketers in streamlining what was known as sledging," Dhoni said at a promotional event in New Delhi, alongside the West Indies player as quoted by Hindustan Times newspaper.

Agreeing with Dhoni, the hard-hitting Gayle who plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL said, "I agree with MS about IPL. IPL has done wonders for the entire cricket fraternity. Yes, there is friendly sledging, like I enjoy with (Kieron) Pollard- Mumbai Indians player- but otherwise it's cool.

"I got to know (Mitchell) Starc- the Australian pacer representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) - through IPL. He is a totally different player in the dressing room. He is very quiet and very reserved, but (it) was good to know him," he revealed.
