The BCCI is likely to announce the Head coach of the Indian Team on June 24. The board’s Working Committee has decided to meet at Dharamsala on Friday, and they are expected to take care of the selection procedures and decide who will be the next head coach of India during the meet.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to appoint the Head coach for the Indian Team on June 24. Earlier, the BCCI had officially invited applications for the vacancy through its website on June 1. By the deadline on June 10, BCCI received a total of 57 applications for this top job.

Former cricketers like Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Venkatesh Prasad, and Sandeep Patil, chairman of the national selection panel, seem to be some of the renowned names in the fray for this prestigious post.

The post has been vacant since India’s exit in the World Cup 2015, when Duncan Fletcher left the team at the end of his contract tenure. Since then, the Indian Team had been under the mentorship of Team director Ravi Shastri, who also departed at the end of the World T20 earlier this.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar had been appointed as the acting coach for India's ongoing tour to Zimbabwe.

The PTI has reported that the their BCCI sources have maintained that only “normal agenda” will be discussed during the meet, the panel will most probably pick out the new coach, before the Indian Test Team tours West Indies next month.

Ajay Shirke, the new honorary secretary of the board, has been assigned the task of choosing the apt candidates before conducting a formal interview, according to the PTI.

Along with naming the head coach, the committee is also expected to consider the suggestions proposed by the technical committee regarding using neutral venues to host Ranji Trophy games for the upcoming season. The meeting of the Ranji Trophy coaches and captains is also scheduled on June 23 at the same venue.
