Former Pakistan spinner Tauseef Ahmed, said on Saturday, that the ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit needs to probe the World T20 match between India and Bangladesh, since the result looked suspicious. India defeated Bangladesh by one run at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Chasing 147 for a win, Bangladesh were on the cusp of a memorable victory in the final over needing just two runs off the last three balls. But, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah went for glory and perished on back-to-back balls to set up a tense finish at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Indian skipper M S Dhoni ran the stumps down in the final delivery and took India to victory with a solitary run.

Although the win was a relief to Indian cricket fans, former Pakistan spinner Tauseef Ahmed, who played 34 Tests and 70 ODIs for Pakistan taking 93 and 55 wickets respectively, feels that there is no cricketing logic to understand the way Bangladesh gifted the match to India.

“The way the match ended it just does not feel right to me. I think it needs to be investigated by the authorities including the ICC.

“Bangladesh is now not an inexperienced side. They had experienced players at the crease. I don’t understand how they could not first opt to tie the match and try for a big hit,” he told Geo Super channel of Pakistan.

The spinner, who is also the head coach of the Pakistan A team, said that his experience tells him that something was not right about the result.

“I don’t know what to say. Best if the ICC looks into the match and holds an inquiry. Look everyone knows things do happen nowadays in cricket matches so nothing wrong in looking into the match,” he added.
