WATCH | Wahab Riaz takes brilliant catch to dismiss Roston Chase
Pakistan have never been known for their fielding abilities in the cricketing world with Youtube standing testament to their on-field gaffes. But Wahab Riaz broke this convention as he managed to take an incredibly athletic catch to dismiss Roston Chase in the ongoing match against West Indies.
In the first Test of the ongoing three-match series between West Indies and Pakistan, the Windies were going along comfortably with Roston Chase looking equally adept against both pace and spin bowling.
Chase was batting on 63 off 150 deliveries when Yasir Shah came on to bowl the 70th over and didn’t produce a particularly good delivery. Chase, couldn’t resist the temptation to give the ball whack over the ropes but didn’t hit the ball cleanly enough.
Standing at mid off. Riaz sensed a chance and started running backward in the hope of claiming the catch. The pacer was still slightly away from the ball when it dropped to catching level but Riaz somehow managed to put in a full-length dive and claim the ball. His momentum, however, took him inches away from the boundary but the 31-year-old managed to stay off the ropes. His effort was so extraordinary that Riaz himself appeared surprised that he had managed to pull off the catch!
The catch resulted in the Windies losing their sixth wicket for just 189 runs and they eventually finished the day at 244/7 after 81 overs, with Mohammad Amir picking up 3 wickets for just 28 runs in 19 his overs.
This is some catching from Wahab Riaz..
