India vs Australia | Honoured by praise from Sachin Tendulkar, says Nathan Lyon
While calling Sachin Tendulkar one of the greatest of the game, Nathan Lyon has stated that such recognition from Tendulkar is a matter of immense honour for him. On a pacer-friendly wicket where the Indian team chose to play with four pacers, Lyon managed to bag a fifer in India’s 1st innings.
Australia managed to get a lead of 43 runs after the conclusion of first innings of the second Test between India and Australia. The hosts sent the visitors packing for a total of 283 runs and wrecker-in-chief in the cause was the lone frontline spinner playing in the match- Nathan Lyon who ended with the figures of 5/67 even as the remaining wickets were shared by the Australian pacers.
After that performance former Indian batsman, Sachin Tendulkar praised the Australian off-spinner through Twitter.
Australia have got a very special spinner in @NathLyon421. He has got terrific variations and uses the pace and bounce from the pitch to extract maximum value. #INDvAUS

Apart from picking a fifer, Lyon also got into the record books, as for the seventh time the off-spinner has taken five wickets or more in an innings against India. He equalled the record of Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralidharan against the Indian side in Test cricket. Lyon not only equalled the record but managed to do so in a lesser number of innings, achieving the record in 30 innings against Muralidharan’s 32.
"That's amazing to get something like that from Sachin Tendulkar," Lyon said after play.
"He's obviously one of the greatest of all time to ever play the game. So, to get recognised from him it's a massive honour."
