Virat Kohli was going strong after completing his sixth century in Australia and was all set for a big one. However, a Pat Cummins delivery took an outside edge, and was caught by Peter Handscomb, but he laughed it off thinking the ball had been dropped, and was left surprised when he was given out.

Kohli played one of the finest innings of his life in the Perth Test and avoided Pat Cummins burst to make a statement of intent. Seeing Kohli is on a mood to thrash every one of them after completing his century, Australia decided to take the second new ball and gave Cummins the charge to disturb the Indian skipper.   

Cummins was equal to the job and tempted Kohli into driving a long way away from his body on the last ball of the 93rd over and the outside edge seemed to have died on its way to Handscomb at second slip. Although Handscomb suggested that it was out, Kohli laughed it off and went ahead to punch fists with Rishabh Pant, and even suggested that it was a not out. However, what happened in the next one minute took Kohli’s happiness away. 

Umpire, though decided that there was enough doubt to go upstairs to review it, gave the soft signal as out and the third umpire needed a conclusive evidence to overturn the decision. Despite checking many angles, the third umpire couldn’t find any evidence to overturn that decision. One angle, however, appeared to show that the ball had dropped in front of Handscomb, but again it was not conclusive. That forced the umpire to stick with his on-field counterpart’s soft signal and ruled Virat Kohli out. 

Seeing the decision, Kohli was completely frustrated. He threw his helmet off in utter disgust as he crossed the rope as well.
