Acting president of BCCI, CK Khanna, had congratulated Rahul Dravid and U-19 cricket team for their exceptional performance in the ongoing U-19 World Cup adding that he would like to welcome them back with the trophy. India beat Pakistan in the semi-final today to set up a final date with Australia.
The Indian U-19 team started their World Cup campaign with a bang as they defeated Australia by 100 runs in their first group match. They followed that up with a 10-wicket win against Papua New Guinea and a 10-wicket thrashing of Zimbabwe to go into the knockouts with a 100% record.
After winning all the group matches, the junior Men in Blue handed Bangladesh a 131-run loss to set up a semi-final against arch-rivals Pakistan. IN what proved to be a one-sided encounter, India hammered their opponents by an astonishing 203 runs to book a place in the final against Australia.
Khanna praised the team’s coach Rahul Dravid for his contribution and congratulated the side for their sublime performances.
"I would like to congratulate Rahul Dravid and his team for a magnificent performance," Khanna told ANI.
"We are proud of them and the nation is proud of them. We would like to welcome them with the World Cup trophy in their hands."
The Indian side will now face Australia in the final on February 3.
