IPL 2018 | Punjab to play first three home games in Mohali, last four in Indore
The IPL governing council has been forced to swap Kings XI Punjab's home matches due to renovations at the Chandigarh International Airport between May 12 and 31. As per the revised schedule, Indore will host four matches and the team's original venue Mohali will get only three matches this season.
One of the most underperforming franchises in the Indian Premier League has to Kings XI Punjab and it could be blamed on the fact that they have always found problems as far as their home venues are concerned. Apart from Mohali, the franchise also adopted venues like Dharmasala, Cuttack, and Indore as their home venues in the past and it seemed like they will end up finalizing Indore in a longer run.
While Indore was happy in getting the chance to host three IPL matches this season, it gets even better for them after Mohali was stripped of one more game due to the scheduled renovations at the Chandigarh International Airport between May 12 and 31. Mohali will host all the matches that are scheduled in April and the remaining four matches, all in May, will now be played in Indore.
As per new fixtures, Punjab will play on April 15, 19, and 23 matches in Mohali and Indore will host the May 4, 6, 12, and 14 matches.
“There were logistical difficulties that teams would have encountered had KXIP played their home games in Mohali in May. Therefore the IPL Governing Council has decided that the dates will be swapped and Indore will now host all their matches in May,” acting president and IPL Governing Council member CK Khanna told PTI.
