IPL 2018 | I feel we gave away 20 runs more than what we should have, says Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj, who didn’t quite have a homecoming he would have liked, felt that Bangalore’s bowling unit gave 20 runs more than what they should have against Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB lost the match to SRH by 5 runs and have almost closed the window of the playoffs for themselves.
Things didn’t turn out the way Mohammed Siraj would have expected against his former team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Siraj was keen on helping RCB win the game at his former home ground in Hyderabad on Monday. He took 3 wickets for 25 runs in his quota of four overs and was the pick of the bowlers for RCB. Despite a good show with the ball, the 24-year-old tasted disappointment as RCB lost a close match by five runs to kiss goodbye to their campaign this season.
“This was a very crucial match for us and we needed to win this game but we lost it,” Siraj said on Monday night after the match.
Given that Siraj played a lot of matches on the wicket in Hyderabad, he was aware of the conditions. He felt that they gave 20 runs extra to SRH, which made all the difference.
“My only plan was to give as
RCB bowlers haven’t quite been up to the mark, while their batting has been good. However, it was role reversal against SRH, where their batsmen let them down.
“It’s a part of the game. Ups and down will always be there. We are hoping to do well the next time,” explained Siraj.
The only chance for RCB to make it to the qualifiers is by winning their remaining 4 games by a good margin and hope that other team on the same points has a lower net run-rate than them.
“Whatever it is, we have to take it match by match. We will see what the situation is and take it from there. Hopefully, we get to win a few games from here on,” Siraj concluded.
