IPL 2018 | Rain could play spoilsport in KKR’s crucial clash between RR

Kolkata Knight Riders are wary of rain playing a dampener in their face-off match against Rajasthan Royals, which could potentially decide their chances of qualification for the playoffs. The last time KKR experienced rain was in their game against Kings XI Punjab, where the hosts ended up losing.

Following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s tremendous 10-wicket win over KXIP in their last game, the run rate has come into the equation significantly with KKR moving up to the third spot. However, with all the five sides – RCB, MI, KKR, RR, and KXIP – still very hopeful of a qualification chance, sharing a point apiece would be the last thing the KKR management would want.

After blowing their easy streak into a precarious position, KKR have gained some hold yet again as they defeated KXIP comprehensively last week. However, they would need to win another to gain some sense of relief in the cut-throat competition in the table. This makes their clash with RR on Tuesday all the more important.

Skipper Dinesh Karthik has had a hot-cold stint this season and would want a real chance for his side to give their all. Despite IPL being scheduled right in the monsoon eve in the country, the tournament has hardly faced ay such interferences. Kolkata has faced plenty of rain in the build-up to the game although the skies have remained clear on Tuesday.

As per Accuweather.com, Kolkata is expected to see a thunderstorm or two in the morning with the nights likely to remain cloudy. It keeps the groundsmen busy throughout the day right until the match starts. Karthik had a frustrating game against KXIP in their backyard where rain had forced D/L to incline the outcome massively towards KXIP.
