Virat Kohli revealed that handling the pressure will be the prime focus of the Indian cricket team as they enter the final phase of preparations for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup. Kohli & Co. have been given the tag of ‘favorites’ along with England and defending champions - Australia.
Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team have certainly been a force to reckon with in the last couple of years. The men in blue registered impressive ODI series win against Australia, West Indies and South Africa since 2018 and are currently second ranked team in the ICC ODI team rankings.
Ahead of the start of this year’s ICC ODI World Cup in England, the Indian captain has revealed that handling the pressure will be the biggest challenge for his young squad of talented players.
"I think the only expectation at the World Cup we have, is to play really good cricket. That's been our focus, and that's how the results have followed for us.
"Handling pressure is the most important thing in the World Cup and not necessarily the conditions. All our bowlers are fresh, no one looks fatigued", Kohli said at a recent press conference as per TOI reports.
The 30-year old Delhi batsman also spoke about the change of format that will be utilised at the upcoming global showpiece. The ‘all-play-all’ format which was last used in the 1992 ICC World Cup which Pakistan won will be a huge challenge for all participating team concedes Kohli.
"Personally, I think this is probably the most challenging World Cup of all that I've been part of, because of the format," Kohli added.
