VIDEO | Virat Kohli bows down after low-flying 'blinder' to stun debutant Cameron Green
If there was ever this feeling that India might do without Virat Kohli in the last three Tests, that feeling has started to evaporate. With every passing second, Indian fans are going gaga as the skipper continues to stun and today he took a blinder to help India get Cameron Green.
India were poor in the field today. They dropped Marnus Labuschagne twice that too when they were as easy as catches as you would ever see. But, Virat Kohli, intent on leading from the front, like he usually does, put up a masterclass of a fielding effort to help India get rid of Cameron Green. Yes, that was a big wicket given India's history of giving a red-carpet start to debutantes in Test cricket.
It's hard to separate Virat Kohli from the spotlight as he reminded us of the Joe Root run-out when last time India toured England as such was the brilliance he showcased on day 2 of the Test series opener. Kohli is at mid-wicket, Green tries to pull Ashwin's ball which is turning into his leg, which looked like a half-tracker. It's a challenging shot because on a wicket with bounce, it ain't easy to pull in front of the square.
But, the lanky youngster, unafraid of the consequences has taken on the challenge. The ball hits the high part of his willow but it is going fast and flat but Kohli like a lion waiting for his prey, makes a full stretch dive to his right. Unlike a lot of modern-day fielders, Kohli doesn't dive with just one hand as he uses both his hands to take a peach of a grab to stun Green. Indian fielders are delighted as they run towards their leader.
Kohli, after the grab, takes his hat off like a magician who has just awed one and all with his startling trick, acknowledging the adulation from the crowd. Green, who looked great at the crease, has to go back to the hut on 11 as Australia are reduced to 79 for 5.
