Sports is one of the greatest entertainers in the world and people often channelize with the modern trends. Sam Billings taking a scintillating catch in the first game of doubleheader Saturday between Oval Invincibles and London Spirits sent flashbacks of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.

Winning the coin-flip and electing to field first paid dividends for Oval captain Sam Billings as Adam Zampa’s four-for followed suit with Sam Curran’s opening spell in the first innings. With Tom Curran making further inroads, the fielders from the host side complemented the bowlers brilliantly. One of the prime incidents involved the leader himself as Billings took an outstanding catch to fold the London side.

With nine wickets down by the 18th set, Olly Stone’s intent to go big or go home took the wrong turn, courtesy of an excellent grasp from the wicketkeeper. Tom Curran sprayed a back-of-the-hand slower one on a good length outside the stumps on the 92nd ball of the innings. Stone looked to hack across the line but incurred an outside edge towards the keeper's right hand side. Billings, behind the stumps, leaped to his right and grasped the ball out of thin air in a whisker. The brilliant athleticism of the Oval captain was praised by the Twitterverse who vibed along with the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony.
