South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has pulled out of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League season due to a family emergency. The St Lucia Kings have roped in New Zealand top-order batter Tim Seifert to fill the void left by the Proteas star in the Faf du Plessis-led outfit.

Heinrich Klaasen, who has represented the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL earlier, was named as a pre-draft announcement by the Kings in June. However, the Proteas swashbuckler has communicated to the management about his family's urgency and need to skip the upcoming tournament on the Caribbean shores.

Seifert, the replacement for Klaasen, has already been a part of the tourney in the previous few editions and won the title with the Trinbago Knight Riders in 2020. He amassed 531 runs from 33 matches for the outfit between 2020-22.

Klaasen is not the only player to pull out of CPL 2024. A few days back, Sikandar Raza posted via X about his unavailability for the upcoming season due to an injury (likely shoulder). The St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots are yet to name a replacement for the Zimbabwean all-rounder.

Also, the pair of Keshav Maharaj and David Miller are likely to miss the initial couple of games for the Barbados Royals. Henceforth, the franchise named Dunith Wellalage and Shamarh Brooks as replacements. Meanwhile, the Trinbago Knight Riders will be without Tim David for the first four games and Andries Gous of USA will serve as his replacement.

St Lucia Kings Squad: Faf du Plessis ©, Alzarri Joseph, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Noor Ahmad, David Wiese, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Matthew Forde, Aaron Jones, Khary Pierre, Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Shadrack Descarte, Mikkel Govia, McKenny Clarke, Akeem Auguste, Tim Seifert
