Very few brothers have been fortunate to represent the nation together and often backed each other in the steadfast bond. However, a twist occurred in the recent India Legends versus South Africa Legends clash in Northampton where Irfan Patrhan was seen disgusted with Yusuf Pathan.

Eyeing to seal a qualification berth in the semi-final, India Legends faced off against South Africa Legends in a must-win encounter. While the toss favoured the Men in Blue, Jacques Snyman and Richard Levi’s quick fifties steered the Proteas to 210/8 in 20 overs. In reply, India failed to get a big partnership, losing wickets regularly when the Pathan brothers showed valiant effort to withstand the opposition bowlers. However, the 56-run partnership concluded with a disastrous mixup leaving a sour taste in spectators' minds.

On the first ball of the 19th over, Dale Steyn bowled a full delivery wide outside the stumps that Irfan miscued on an attempted loft towards the long-off region. While Jacques Kallis was running behind from inside the circle, he failed to grab the ball but Dane Villas covered up from long on and made a throw towards the bowler’s end with Irfan stuck halfway through the pitch. Elder brother Yusuf denied a second run to Irfan, unintentionally helping South Africa end the building partnership. The younger brother was vividly disgusted by the poor running between the wickets from Yusuf and was seen reprimanding him for the mixup. This was the last recognised pair for the India Legends side and the wicket made things easy for the South African side to earn a victory.

Irfan’s heat of the moment with his elder brother at the centre of the field attracted divided opinions from the Twitterverse.
