When it's your day, everything seems to fall into place. West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers was certainly enjoying the ride in all three facets - batting, bowling, and fielding - as a jaw-dropping catch to remove Faf du Plessis added to his all-round brilliance against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

The Patriots sent the visitors to bat first in the fifth game of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League and found immediate success after Andre Fletcher was run out in the first over. However, Evin Lewis (100*) and Kyle Mayers (92) counter-punched the opposition with a massive 199-run second wicket stand, taking the Kings to 201 in 20 overs. Following his explosive batting, Mayers gleamed with the new hard ball, removing Johnson Charles and Ackeem Augustee in the third over. But his brilliance didn’t just stop there. In the very next over, he stole the show by taking a fantabulous catch, removing the opposition skipper Faf du Plessis.

On the second ball of the fourth over, Anrich Nortje bowled a short ball into Faf du Plessis who tried to make room and shimmy down for a big hit. However, the ball skewed off the top edge of the willow and marooned past the mid wicket region. Mayers, stranded at mid-wicket chased the white rock with a marathon sprint and leaped at it to grasp the ball. Having made good ground and perfecting a near impossible catch, the 31-year-old broke into an adrenaline-rushed celebration before his teammates surrounded him in ecstasy.

Mayers, you beast!
