Bangladesh pocketed the T20I series against Sri Lanka with a dominant eight-wicket win in the third T20I in Colombo. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan picked up four wickets to restrict the hosts to a modest total of 132/7 before Tanzid Hasan carried the Tigers home with an unbeaten half-century.

โ€ŒBangladesh put on a dominant performance to beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the third and final T20I at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan recorded career-best T20I figures of 4/11 in four overs to restrict the hosts before opener Tanzid Hasan made light work of the chase with a belligerent half-century. With that win, Bangladesh secured a 2-1 victory in the three-match series.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka could manage only 132/7 in their stipulated 20 overs, with Pathum Nissanka top-scoring with a 39-ball 46. Former captain Dasun Shanaka hit two sixes and four fours during his unbeaten knock of 35 off 25 balls while Kamindu Mendis chipped in with a 15-ball 21 to lend some respectability to the hostsโ€™ total. Mahedi, who played in the side in place of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, stole the show with his four-wicket haul while Mustafizur Rahman and Shamim Hossain had a wicket apiece.

In response, Tanzid smashed six sixes and a four in his scintillating knock of 73 off 47 balls to lead Bangladeshโ€™s chase. Though the Tigers lost a wicket in the first ball of their innings, Tanzid and captain Litton Das (32) ensured that the side did not panic and set the tone with a 74-run stand. The Bangladesh opener remained unbeaten as he notched up his highest score in T20Is to take his side to 133/2 with 21 balls to spare, while Nuwan Thushara and Kamindu Mendis ended with a wicket each for the hosts.
