A struggling NorthEast United side travel to face high fliers Delhi Dynamos, who have won four of their last five matches, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Delhi have a golden opportunity to win this game and take a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Prediction

Delhi Dynamos 1-0 NorthEast United

1. NorthEast United are poor travelers

The Highlanders have lost all three of their away fixtures, a continuation of their poor record from last season. NorthEast have conceded nine goals in three away games, including a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Mumbai City FC in their last game, and Cesar Farias does not seem to have enough depth in the squad to change that.

2. Delhi have the best defence in the league

People who expected Roberto Carlos to instill “Samba football” at Delhi Dynamos on his arrival, have been surprised about what has materialized. The former Real Madrid star has galvanized the team into an extremely efficient defensive unit, and they have conceded the fewest number of goals so far in the league– five.

Although they will be missing John Arne Riise and Souvik Chakraborty for this game due to suspension, they have able replacements in Chicao and Naoba Singh.

3. Both the teams are low on offence

Delhi Dynamos and NorthEast United occupy the bottom two places in the goal scoring chart and this game is unlikely to change that. Despite starting with Nicolas Velez and Simao Sabrosa in their last game, NorthEast United struggled to create many opportunities, and they will continue to do so against a resolute Delhi side.

The Lions, on the other hand, have seemingly mastered the art of 1-0 wins, the one against Atletico with this scoreline being their third so far.
