ISL side NorthEast United FC has added five new players to their roster, including Indian goalkeeper Subrata Paul for the third edition of the tournament. Apart from Paul, the franchise have also signed Nirmal Chettri, Rowllin Borges, Shouvik Ghosh and Sumit Passi for ISL 2016.

After securing the services of Brazilian coach Sergio Farias, the club owned by Bollywood actor John Abraham is quickly becoming one of the sides to watch out for in the next edition of the ISL by roping in some of the country’s finest footballers. Indian national team goalkeeper Subrata Paul, who played for Mumbai City FC in the last edition of the tournament, will don the gloves for the Guwahati side in the upcoming edition of the ISL.

Apart from the 29-year old goalkeeper, NorthEast United also confirmed the signings of Indian national team midfielder Rowllin Borges, defenders Nirmal Chettri, Shouvik Ghosh and striker Sumit Passi. The franchise had earlier signed upcoming youngsters Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jerry Mawihmingthanga. With TP Rehenesh, Robin Gurung, Seityasen Singh, Reagan Singh and Halicharan Narzary retained from last season, the Guwahati side have moved closer to completing their domestic roster for the season. The Guwahati-based side had finished 5th in the last edition of the ISL and missed out on a place in the semi-final by just two points.

Expressing his delight in securing the services of five new players, owner of NorthEast United FC, John Abraham said, “I am absolutely thrilled with the signings of these football talents. Football runs in the blood of Nirmal, Subrata, Rowllin Sumit and Shouvik, a characteristic they have in common with the rest of the young lads at NEUFC. I extend a warm welcome to the new joinees in our growing family of passionate footballers and hope that together, we would achieve smashing results at the soon approaching season of the Hero ISL,” reported PTI.
