Neymar commits to a long term deal with Barcelona
Barcelona's Brazilian striker Neymar da Silva has renewed his contract with the Catalan club in a deal that will keep him in Spain until 2021. The Brazilian captain has a release clause of €200 million in the first year but that number rises to €250 million for the last three seasons.
EFE news reported that Neymar signed the new contract before training commenced on Friday and then joined the rest of the team as they prepared for their upcoming La Liga fixture against Valencia.
FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu, the sports Vice President Jordi Mestre, board member Javier Bordas, Technical Secretary Robert Fernandez, Executive Director, Oscar Grau and professional Sports Director Albert Soler attended the event as Barcelona
The 24-year-old had a quiet last game against Manchester City, where he missed a penalty but ended up getting on the scorecard as Barcelona ran out 4-0 winners. This would mean that Neymar will equal Lionel Messi's release clause in the last three years of his contract.
