Reports | Manchester United make inquiries about Juventus star Blaise Matuidi’s future
With Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on adding a new midfielder, the club’s attention has now shifted to Juventus star Blaise Matuidi. The 32-year-old was previously rumoured to be a part of a deal to bring Paul Pogba back to Turin, but that deal never took flight.
Manchester United are looking to reinforce their side before the season officially starts and to do that, they would need to spend money on the right additions. The Red Devils have already done that by adding Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka so far, with links to Bruno Fernandes, Sean Longstaff and even John McGinn over the last few months.
But no moves have taken flight with the Red Devils now looking towards the Serie A for their next target in the shape of Blaise Matuidi. The Mirror has reported that both Manchester United and Everton have made enquires about the 32-year-old’s future at the club.
That future does look in trouble, especially after the rise of Rodrigo Bentancur alongside the additions of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot. Not just that, with Juventus also in the race for Paul Pogba, reports have indicated that Matuidi was touted as a potential make-weight. But no deal has taken place as of yet, with both players still at their respective clubs.
The report still adds that any approach for the 2018 World Cup winner will be met with staunch resistance, with Juventus keen on holding him to the final year of his contract. Neither Manchester United nor Everton are the only suitors in the race, with PSG looking at bringing their former star back alongside interest from Monaco and Olympique Lyon.
