With Bayern Munich trying to sign Leroy Sane all summer, the Bavarian giants have offered Manchester City the chance to sign David Alaba in a part-exchange deal. The Bundesliga champions are looking to move into a brand new era, with the belief that Sane will lead their new generation out.

Manchester City have been offered Bayern Munich star David Alaba by the Bundesliga Champions in a part-exchange deal for Leroy Sane, the Mirror has reported. The 23-year-old has done well for the Cityzens since his move, making 133 appearances and contributing to 84 goals so far.

However, the arrival of Riyad Mahrez last summer has seen the competition for places getting increased. That has changed Sane’s fortunes at Manchester City, with the German no longer the top star at the Etihad especially with Guardiola rotating his squad frequently.

It’s what started the Bayern Munich interest, but with the Cityzens asking for €100 million, no deal has materialized yet. Adding David Alaba to the deal might be the answer, but Bayern have already offered Barcelona a similar deal for Ousmane Dembele and were turned down.

They need to add at least one new winger, with both Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben departing the club. Sane is their top target, with alternatives in the form of Ousmane Dembele and Yannick Carrasco still on Bayern Munich’s shortlist.

To make things interesting, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about the rumours, saying “For a long time they are talking about their interest in Leroy Sane. He is our player and we hope that he can stay here this season and next season and next season.”
